Rudolph

Rudolph is an early maincrop ware variety with an attractive red skin, good heat tolerance and a very high yield.

It is an extremely versatile potato and is a popular choice for baking, mashing and roasting. It produces large oval round, shallow eyed tubers of uniform size. The cooking texture is quite firm with a good dry matter. Rudolph is happy in most soil types but can be susceptible to Common Scab.

Suggested fertiliser treatment
Nitrogen: standard advice + 5%, preferable as split application and the second gift while tuberising.
Potassium: standard advice + 10%.
Phosphate: standard advice.

Cultivation
It is recommended to apply a seed treatment against Rhizoctonia.

Plant spacing
35/45mm: 25cm (44,500 plants/ha).
45/55mm: 28cm (40,000 plants/ha).

Herbicide sensitivity
A strict preventative spraying schedule against late blight is necessary.

Harvest
Wait at least three weeks after haulm killing before harvesting, as Rudolph is sensitive to harvest damage.

Storage
Rudolph has a very long dormancy and is suitable for long term storage at 4°C.
